Keyless Propeller Removal & Installation
Keyless Propeller
Slacking steps:
1)
CHECK THE
GAP BETWEEN THE ROPE GUARD & PROPELLER END THEN REMOVE THE ROPE GUARD.
2)
POLISH
ONLY TIPS AND ROOTS WITH PROPELLER BOSS FOR CRACK TEST.
3)
Put MAIN
ENGINE PISTON No.1 ON TOP DEAD CENTER POSITION.
4)
MAESURE
WEAR DOWN USING POKER GAUGE.
5)
BRROKE THE
PROPELLR CAP CEMENT.
6)
DRAIN THE
STERN TUBE OIL.
7)
DISCONNECT
THE LINER FROM THE PROPELLER.
8)
MARK THE
POSITION OF THE PROPELLER TO THE SHFT RADIAL AND AXIAL.
9)
DISCONNECT
THE CAP.
10)
WELD TWO
PADEYES 180deg. WITH THE STERN TUBE BOSS.
11)
SECURE THE
PROPELLER TO THE STERN TUBE POST.
12)
MARK THE
POSITION OF THE NUT TO THE SHAFT.
13)
MEASURE
THE DISTANC BETWEEN THE PROPELLER BOSS TO THE SHAFT END USING MICROMETER.
14)
SLACK THE
PROPELLR NUT WITH GAP 40mm.
15)
PUT GASKET
OR WOODEN PICES BETTWEN THE NUT AND PROPELLER HUB.
16)
CONNECT
THE HYDRULIC PUMP TO THE PROPELLER BOSS.
17)
MEASURE
THE TEMPURTURE OF THE PROPELLER BOSS AND THE SHAFT.
18)
VENT THE
AIR FROM THE PROPELLER BOSS, THEN START RISEING THE PRESSURE UP.
19)
RECORD THE
SLACKING PRESSURE AND TEMP.
20)
PROTECT
THE SHAFT THREAD AGAINST PULLING OF THE PROPELLER.
21)
PULL THE
PROPELLER OUT OF THE SHAFT AND HANGE IT.
22)
BRING THE
AFT STERN TUBE SEAL TO W/S.
PROPELLER BOXING UP:
1)
PUT THE
AFT STERN TUBE SEAL IN PLACE WITH NEW GASKETAND O-RING
2)
PULL THE
PROPELLER BACK AND MAKE SURE THAT THE PROPELLER ON THE SAME DIRECTION OF THE
REMOVAL MARK (ALLOWABLE DIVITION 5mm).
3)
TIGHT THE
PROPELLER NUT AGAINST THE PROPELLER.
4)
CONNECT THE
HYDRULIC PUMP TO THE PROPELLER AND NUT.
5)
MEASURE
THE PROPELLER BOSS TEMP. & SHAFT TMP. THE USE THE PUSH UP CHARTS TO
ESTIMATE THE PUSH UP DISTANCE. DRY&WET CONDITION
6)
VENT AIR
OF THE NUT, PROPELLER HUB.
7)
START
RISING UP THE OIL PRESSURE IN THE HY.NUT ACCORDINALY WITH OIL PRESSURE OF THE HUB
AND RECORD FOR EACH 1mm TO BE MEASURED BY DAIL GAUGE.
8)
AFTER COMPLITING
THE PUSH UP, RELASE THE PRESSURE FROM THE HUB AND KEEP THE NUT FOR 10 MINUTE
THEN RELASE AND TIGHT THEN FIT THE LOCK WITH LASHING.
9)
CONNECT
THE LINER.
10)
CLOSE ALL
PROPELLER PLUGS AND FIT THE CAP WITH LASHING AND CEMENT.
11)
REMOVE ALL
LIFTING TOOLS & CUT ALL PAD EYES.
12)
CARRY OUT
ALIGNMENT O THE STERN TUBE SEAL.
13)
INFORM
SHIP SATFF TO FILL THE STERN TUBE OIL
14)
CARRY OUT
STERN TUBE SEAL LEAK TEST.
15)
TAKE WEAR
DOWN @PISTON NO.1 T.D.C
16)
START
POLISHING THE PROPELLER.
17)
CARRY OUT
DYE CHECK FOR PROPELLER BOSS, TIPS, AND ROOTS.
NOTES:
1)
BRING THE SPARE SEAL
TO THE WORK SHOP THEN INSPECT IT WELL
2)
CHECK THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE PROPELLER AND RUDDER TO SEE IF
THE PROPELLER CAN PASS OR NEED TO TURN THE RUDDER.
3)
CHECK THE CORRECT POSTION FOR TURNING THE RUDDER EITHER HARD PORT OR HARD STBD. OR REQUIRED TO TURN THE RUDDER 90Deg.
4)
CHECK THE SHAPE OF THE SHIP STERN TO HANGE THE CORRECT TOOLS.
5)
CHECK THE LENGTH OF THE PROPELLER BOSS x4 ROUND. TO ESTIMATE THE LENGHTH OF THE LIFTING WIRE.
6)
CHECK IF THE PROPELLER HAS DISTANCE RING BECAUSE IT WILL BE A LIMT OF THE PUSH UP
7)
BE SURE THE PROPELLER O-RING & GASKET FITTED BEFORE PUSHING UP THE PROPELLER.
Job to be carried out after propeller removal:
1)
Clean the
tail shaft taper
2)
MPI CRACK
TEST TO BE CARRIED OUT FOR SHAFT TAPER AND ABOUT 25% TAPER LENGTH AFT THE TAPER
END.
3)
TAKE THE
CLEARANCES BETTWEN THE SHAFT AND STERN TUBE BEARING USING FELLER GAUGE.
PRECAUTION MUST BE TAKEN IN CONSIDERATION:
1)
CLEAN THE
PROPELLER HUB WELL USING DESIEL THEN BY HUDRULIC OIL AFTER THAT MAKE IT DRY,
COVER WELL USING WOODEN BLANK.
2)
CLEAN THE
SHAFT WELL AFTER MPI TEST AND PROTECT IT WELL.
3)
PROTECT
THE LINER FOR THE SEAL HOUSING AND USE THE LIFTING CLAMP TO REMOVE THE SEAL
CASING FROM THE SHAFT.
4)
PUSH UP
PRESSURE NOT EXCCED MORE THAN 10% OF SLACKING PRESSURE.
5)
LINER
BOLTS TO BE LOOSE, FREE AND MONUTRING DURING THE PUSH UP.
6)
THE DAIL
GAUGE READER MUST BE MORE THAN THE PUSH UP DISTANCE WITH LONG NEEDEL.
7)
USE THE
SUITABLE OIL GRADE FOR SLACKING & JACKING ACCORDING TO TEMPURTE.
