FP Key Type Removal & Installation

 

FP Key Type Removal Steps

       

  (1)      Remove the rope guard (check the gap prior to remove)

       (2)      propeller blades Tips , roots &boss to be polished  for crack test

       (3)      Turn the propeller to bring the key on top side
 (4)      Mark the propeller cap to the propeller boss
 (5)      Broke the propeller cap cement, and then remove it.
 (6)      Mark the propeller nut with the propeller shaft, then removes the lock.
 (7)      Back off the nut pushing up distance +3mm, then use suitable shock absorber between the            nut & propeller hub.
 (8)      Mark the fwd. end of the propeller boss to the propeller shaft then take a distance between            the aft. End of the propeller boss to the aft. End of the propeller shaft. Also the distance                 underneath of the aft end of the propeller hub to the propeller shaft (as a reference for push            up), slacking temp.& forces To be recoded with applying force or pressure for slacking.
 (9)      Hang all lifting tools and secure the propeller

       (10)    Slack the propeller ,remove the nut

       (11)    Protect the  shaft thread against pulling of the  propeller

       (12)    Pull out the propeller

     Installation of Key type propeller

Apply the correct force for propeller pushing up to the propeller shaft up to reach to the  removal mark

Notes:

(1)    If the stern tube is oil lubricating, must be drained prior to start and stern tube seal to   be disconnected and protect , also the wear down gauge to be recorded.

(2)     If the vessel is twin screw, the right and left direction of the propeller blades,         propeller shaft, propeller nut, propeller cap to be marked before removing.
